Sumter Place in The Villages was wonderful and beautiful. One part is independent living, another is assisted living, and a nursing home. The independent living is a building next door where they don't take care of you, you just live there, which is where I want to go. It's absolutely beautiful. The people were nice. Every person I spoke to was in good spirits. The staff toured me around, answered all the questions, were very accommodating, and took their time. I had absolutely no complaints. She was excellent. I went through the dining room, and it looked clean and neat, people were enjoying themselves, and looked very inviting. I'm very picky when it comes to restaurants and theirs was the kind of place I would eat in. The facility was completely clean and I really looked to see if it was dirty and it was not.

Sumter Grand is a lovely place with three levels of care. It's a rental and not this kind of thing where you sign up and get coverage for life, it's an annual commitment. The woman who assisted me was exceptional, she took the time and sat down with me during a meal and she answered all my questions. She even offered to take a look at our health insurance and talked about how to be financially prepared, so I think that was very good. The rooms were small, but they have a full kitchen and everything, even though the meals are all prepared downstairs by a special chef. They also allow dogs.

I volunteer here and love working with the seniors there. I work for Operation Christmas Child and we just had out packing party on Sunday. It was a great success! What a wonderful and helpful place it is.

The people at Sumter Place in the Villages were very helpful and very outgoing. The place was very nice and clean with lots of activities. The apartment was very nice and compact, but there's enough space to be comfortable in it. The grounds were beautifully cared for and there were lots of areas to go and sit outside. It was extremely easy to get to. The dining room was very nice, and they had a chef. I would have chosen this one out of all the places I visited.

I liked the gym and the pool at Sumter Grand in The Villages. The staff is very helpful and nice. It was on a good spot and the grounds are beautiful. The food is excellent, but the apartments weren't big enough.

I will move to Sumter Grand in The Villages on this month. It's a beautiful place, and it's located in a nice area. It's in The Villages and the apartments are lovely. They have happy hour every day and you get breakfast and lunch or dinner. They have activities, trips, a swimming pool, golf, a bowling club, and all those good things. The staff is awesome. They have a kitchen and if I want to cook, I can, but I can also take two meals a day with them. The facility is awesome.

We stayed at Sumter for two nights. We ate meals, and it was lovely. It's on top of our list. It's fairly new and has all the services. They have a building just for independent, which is attractive to us because the groups are not mixed. They have separate building for assisted, for skilled nursing, and for people with Alzheimer's. We will visit again this coming winter. The food was excellent. They served two plentiful meals beautifully served, and the staff in the dining was very professional. We were really very impressed. Also, the place was clean. We stayed there, met with the sales rep, and had a meeting, a tour, and a meal. It was a very comprehensive, ejoyable stay.

I liked some things about Sumter Place in The Villages and there were things I didn't like. Two things I didn't like about it were that it was expensive and also the residents there didn't seem cheerful or happy. The thing I liked about it was the rooms were in clusters and each cluster had its own reading area and social area. It didn't feel like an institution so much. They have places where the residents could do their laundry, and they have a nice dining room, and a really beautiful lobby. The staff seemed really friendly.

We just moved my father into there a little over a month ago. Highlights: 1. Overall the staff is very nice and generally accommodating 2. The food is terrific (watch out for the warm cookies in the afternoon you will get addicted)! 3. They definitely promote social activities. Lowlights: When we moved my Dad in the room was absolutely atrocious. I had to removed rodent dropping from under the sink and there was a distinctive smell in the room. The carpet in the bedroom was supposed to be replaced due to heavy staining. During that first week I put in two work orders to at least have the carpet cleaned. My father has put in several as well. As of this writing it has not been cleaned or replaced!

For those with Parkinson’s disease it’s a big failure. They did not have dedicated med techs to dispense meds on a timely basis. The same people who dress and help patients to do other things, dispense the meds. They could be otherwise helping someone and the med time is very late. Wrong dosage happened also. I just didn’t think the staff was properly trained. I would go visit my loved one at meal times and the food was served warm to chilly. At dinner time, the wait staff was loud and fooling around at the door to the kitchen. I didn’t think they had enough supervision. I thought they had enough activities to keep people occupied. Afternoon music, bingo and exercise. They do have an open exercise room that can be used by all which is vital for those with Parkinson’s and those with dementia. The room has windows so staff can see in if anyone gets into trouble in there. I would use the facility again if they hired med techs, and had better trained personnel in all depts.

I found Sumter Place in The Villages to be dirty. The staff was nice, but the food was not good. The public bathroom downstairs smelled of urine, like an old nursing home. The amenities were OK, and it would have been my first choice because of its location. Paige toured me around, and she was lovely, very pleasant, and very accommodating. She did everything she could to make me like the place.
