My moved my dad into Smoky Springs. My first impression was it was very well taken care of. The property is very nice. Everybody is just so friendly and helpful. It definitely has southern charm. The rooms came in many sizes ranging from, I think, 400 square feet to almost 1,000 square feet. My dad has one of the largest one-bedrooms painted in decorative colors. They have a lot of activities and do daily trips. They have transportation to places and things in-house like volleyball and visiting musicians.

I visited Smoky Springs and really liked it. The lady, Susan, was very nice. What we liked the best about it is that there were more apartment-like rooms and lots of clubs and activities, which my mother-in-law would have enjoyed. It was a very welcoming atmosphere, and overall, we liked the experience. We wanted to move in there. The rooms were nice and small but perfect for someone who doesn't have a lot of needs. They were clean and looked like an actual one-bedroom apartment. It's very close to our place, which was also a contributing factor, and the grounds were very well-kept. It was clean, nice, had trees and plenty of parking for guests. Our biggest concern with them was price, but I don't think that can be improved because it wasn't really more or less expensive than any of the other places. Considering what you're getting, it's not a bad deal.

My dad has chosen Smoky Springs. When we walked in, there was a sign with our name on it welcoming us. They offered us a wonderful lunch, and the residents we sat with were very informative. When we took the tour to see the rooms and how things were set up, the staffer was very perceptive that my dad is a very simple man who just wanted a one-bedroom and as little space necessary to survive. No big deal, just a small room. She said that there were other options, but the two rooms that we saw that day were very similar in that they were small but very adequate. In fact, my dad was so excited to have outdoor access, and they have a walking park. He felt very comfortable there and that they could focus on his needs and wants. They have outdoor and indoor activities, a gym, a library, a beauty salon, a shuttle that runs every day if you need it, and doctor shuttles that run twice a week. There’s an enormous amount of resources right there.

It is very fine, and the people there did a great job with the tour. They had nice amenities, but what sold me on the idea was when I met several residents during the visit. They showed me a decorated room, which was very nice, one that looked like it was about to be decorated, and one that looks as it stands now. I saw a 1- and a 2-bedroom apartment, and the size was fine. They also have activities. I saw a lady painting and they also have a library. It is strictly independent living and they provide meals, but if you need help with medication or anything like that, you have to arrange that separately.
