Georgia Medicaid offers low-cost or free health care services to eligible low-income individuals across the state including pregnant women, children, seniors and people with disabilities.
Medicaid benefits include:
- Doctors visits and emergency services

- Home health services

- Diagnostic and laboratory services
To qualify for long-term care through Medicaid, those aged 65 and older, or blind or disabled applicants younger than age 65, must have:
- A maximum of $2,313 in monthly income and $2,000 in assets for an individual
- A maximum of $4,626 in monthly income and $3,000 in assets for a married couple
Medicaid considers income from any source when evaluating eligibility, but some assets don’t count, including a home, primary vehicle, personal belongings and furnishings.

The Georgia Medicaid program offers two waivers to help seniors and people with disabilities receive long-term care in their homes or community settings. It should be noted that individuals can only participate in one of the two waiver programs.
Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment Waiver The
Service Options Using Resources in a Community Environment waiver enables eligible seniors and disabled people to receive long-term care services in a personal care home and pay a reduced rate for room and board. For 2019, the rate is $650 per month.
To qualify for SOURCE, seniors should:
- Be receiving Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income
- Require the level of care provided in a skilled nursing facility
Services covered by the SOURCE waiver include:
- An assessment of medical and assistance needs and an individualized care program
- Assisted living and personal care services
- Home delivered meals
- Adult day care
- Around-the-clock access to a primary physician and case manager
- Emergency services

. Community Care Services Program Waiver Also intended to help individuals avoid nursing home placement, the
Community Care Services Program waiver provides the following services:
- Care in a state-licensed personal care home and a reduced room-and-board rate of $650 per month
- Adult day health services
- Home delivered meals
- Skilled nursing and therapy
- Respite care
- Personal support services such as housekeeping and errand assistance
To qualify for the CCSP waiver, individuals must have a functional impairment, be eligible for Medicaid or SSI and be confirmed by a doctor as requiring an intermediate level of skilled nursing care.
