I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother moved into Shorehaven last October. It's nice, and it's clean, but we haven't been there very much because of COVID. I go in because I'm considered her caretaker. They take my temperature, I fill out a form, and then I'm able to go see her. In the past two weeks, they've just been able to go to the dining room and have some activities reinstated, but so far, so good. She has a very nice room, the cost is very reasonable, and the housekeeping is really good. She has a room that looks out on the water, and she's had no complaints. The staff is very friendly and available. They have a beauty salon, exercise classes, and a computer room where they teach the residents to use the computer. There are paths and a walking trail, they're directly across from a large mall (Lakeside Mall), and they have a big patio where they have an outside bar for drinks and social dancing. She says the food is very good, and it's been better since she has been able to go to the dining room.

I visited this facility

We toured Shorehaven. It was an in-person tour. I thought the place was beautiful. I liked the dark wood that they had around it. It looked like it had a lot of amenities. The apartments were a little older looking inside, but they were still nice. It was a nice-looking place. The lady that took us on a tour was great. She was very personable, and she was friendly. She has worked there and has a lot of knowledge of the place. The staff was good. My mom didn't like it. She thought it was dark and dreary, but that's because she's not into that look. I thought it was nice and elegant.

My sister and brother-in-law are at Oakmont Sterling Assisted right now. They both have dementia and my sister is on hospice. It's a very nice facility. The trouble is, they don't take Medicaid. They love the home and are treated well. The staff is very good. They have a sociologist or a psychiatrist who comes in and works with them. They ask them questions, play games, and push a balloon around to each other. They keep them occupied and keep their minds going. The food is excellent because they have a gourmet chef. It's good all the way around. There's no odor. Everything is nice and clean. They clean the floors after they eat and wash all the tables and the chairs. This place is inexpensive compared to the other ones. What I'm paying for two here I would have paid for one at another place.

I visited Town Village, and I liked the place. The only thing I didn't like was the distance from where we live. I didn't see anything negative about it. The staff was good. They have a swimming pool.

My mother moved into Town Village Sterling Heights in February. It's very friendly and very lively. They serve meals from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., so that you can eat all three meals. I'm very impressed with them. They provide anything you need and want. They offer religious activities, bingo, cards, movies, trivia, and games.

Atria Shorehaven was a great, clean facility, and the staff has gone above and beyond in making my dad and me comfortable. They're not high pressure and have been fantastic.

We chose Atria because my mom could afford it, they allowed dogs as long as you clean up after it, and they take out people on outings three to four times a week. They have a car available if she needs to go to the doctor; she can schedule a ride, and there is no charge up to five miles. They have programs in place, should other things develop, and we can add on services instead of needing to find another facility. They have a monitor on her, and she can push the button if she needs help. The food is outstanding. Lunch and dinner are provided every day, and you're on your own for breakfast, but continental breakfast is available. She can also go down and have a bagel and coffee in the morning.

I visited this facility

I love Waltonwood at Lakeside. It had storage for your Christmas tree or winter coats in the summer, but it's almost $1,000 more a month, which is a problem. It's beautiful. The people were very friendly, invited us to have lunch with them, and took us all around the facility. I'm handicapped, and they took me all around and made sure I was very comfortable. It was very nice. The staff was absolutely wonderful. I don't have a bad thing to say about any of them. They had apartments and if we could afford it, we'd be there. The food was very good. They invited us for lunch and we sat down and had lunch with them. The people were very nice. However, they were sitting around in chairs sleeping. We're active, busy people and that turned us off.

I visited this facility

We had a very nice visit to Pine Ridge, however, it was too big and wouldn't suit my mother. I think it would be overwhelming for her. The sales staff was wonderful. The rooms were well-appointed, clean, and have a nice, little patio attached.
