I went to Rose Arbor & Wildflower Lodge. It's a beautiful place, and I'd love to go there one day if I couldn't handle independent living. They were very nice to me, and it's all built of log trees. It's in the middle of a forest, but it's right near the maple grove shopping complex, kind of west of it, and I found it to be OK. There's parking spaces there, there are a lot of trees around, it's pretty, and it feels secluded. The woman who was with me served me free lunch, and it was very good, she was very friendly, and I would give her a high rating. They have a singing group once a week, and movies, I believe. The meal area was very nice, and one of the people came up to me and said, "You'd love it here, it's a nice place." The food was fine, we got a dessert, beverage, and I think I had spaghetti and ice cream. I liked the food, and they offered me a salad, but I wasn't that hungry.

My mom is now at SilverCreek on Main. She moved in a week ago. Our experience with it is good. The staff members are very helpful. They're very good. Services are all ala carte, so if you need laundry service, you pay for it. They also do all sorts of activities depending on what residents need, like puzzles, arts and crafts, movies, bingo, cards, and outings. There's also a grand piano that people play. My mom is happy with the food. I think it is very good. They give her three meals a day.

I liked the décor, the dining area, and the number of areas to gather at Rose Arbor. Some units seemed to be spacious enough, my dad was looking at 2-bedroom, or 1-bedroom, and a den. The units seemed to be updated enough. There were transportation opportunities and it seemed close enough to shopping opportunities. They have movies, group activities like art, card playing, games, and trips outside to shopping, fun, and pleasure. The staff was very thorough in answering my questions.
Founded in 1851 on a site previously occupied by relocated Winnebago Indians, Maple Grove, Minnesota is a relatively small city of 50,000 people. It is located within Hennepin County and is a hub for the northwestern suburbs of the Twin Cities.
As such, residents of assisted living in Maple Grove will find all of the attractions and services of the big city within relatively easy reach.
Being so close to Saint Paul and Minneapolis, residents of assisted living in Maple Grove are able to explore the wider Twin Cities area, including a large zoo, the largest shopping mall in the United States, multiple museums and art galleries, a lively theater scene and the region’s numerous natural lakes. Within the city limits, Maple Grove contains one of the largest shopping malls in an area known for large shopping malls, The Shoppes at Arbor Lake, as well as two movie theaters, a summer farmers’ market and numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities.
Most senior activities are centered around the
Maple Grove Community Center
. Residents of assisted living in Maple Grove can take classes there, attend monthly luncheons and dinners with entertainment, and join book clubs. They can also make use of the community center’s other facilities, including swimming pools. The community center also offers adult field trips to various local museums and attractions, many of which are suitable for seniors.
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul region is home to a good number of world-class medical facilities. Residents of assisted living in Maple Grove will find the two closest are Maple Grove Hospital and the Maple Grove campus of the area’s only major independent hospital, North Memorial.
Maple Grove Hospital offers a full-service emergency room and an excellent surgical center. The much larger North Memorial campus also has an emergency room. In addition, it has a cancer center, and offers specialist services in the areas of cardiology, stroke treatment and joint replacement.
Maple Grove is served by Maple Grove Transit, which offers express bus service to Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Within the city itself, residents of assisted living in Maple Grove will find the Dial-A-Ride service essential. This curb-to-curb van service is, unlike many others, available to all residents regardless of age or disability. Additionally, Maple Grove seniors can make use of the wider Twin Cities’ Metro Transit system. There are two other curb-to-curb services also available. Transit Link will serve routes only if a regular bus is not available. Metro Mobility will provide trips to any destination, but requires that riders first register and provide medical evidence of disability. In general, residents of assisted living in Maple Grove should have no problems getting around. In short, Maple Grove is a pleasant suburb of Minneapolis, offering big city conveniences and attractions without a lot of noise and fuss.
