Bethesda Rehab and Therapy Center has been a horrible experience for my family! My mom was not getting the care she deserved! Do Not Bring Loved One Here! Here’s a list of issues we encountered: 1. When requested multiple times with various RN and Therapy staff for my mom’s Therapy Notes, was never provided until we had to contact the Administrator, day 11 of mom’s stay, then had a sit down meeting where copies of notes finally given, still without dates/times of therapy given, my sister and I were here often and saw only two therapy sessions in 11 days. 2. I saw nurses wheel my mom into the bathroom and then sit her on the toilet, never come back, and I had to step out to get the CNA to come help her. I hate to think what would have happened had I not been here. 3. Wrong meals delivered from what was requested, plus meals delivered late, i.e. lunch at 2pm some times, dinner at 6:30 or 7pm. 4. I found one of my mom’s pills on the floor, and when brought to the nurse medication dispensing cart, she just exchanged the pill and gave me to give to her. 5. Bloody catheter syringe left on side table. 6. My mom was left by herself on the toilet when nurse left her and never came back, a huge fall risk, and I hate to think of what might have happened if we weren’t there…Ugh!

Our family had one problem after another with staff being dishonest and medical care seemed almost absent. The patient techs and housekeeping staff were helpful and nice but nursing staff was not. Several days the nurse Never came in the room to check up on our family member. They don\'t have enough staff so patients will wait a long time when they press the call light. Care is definitely sub-par.

My father spent the last year of his life there. Started in the rehab unit and move to assisted living. We had experiences with 3 care facilities with my mother and 1 with my father-in-law. We had seen the bad and ugly, so we knew the good when we saw it. We are local, so we visited often. We were pleased with the facility, staff, and the care that my father received. They listened, they responded, to all inquires and requests. Forever greatful.

Brookdale Creve Coeur was beautiful. The rooms and the closets were huge, which is what I like, and the price was reasonable, too. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful kitchen, the living room was huge, and they had cut-out places where you can put things like a computer or a sewing machine. They have a store, a swimming pool, a family room, a chapel, and a library, and they do all kinds of crafts, too. As for the staff, you couldn't ask for a more pleasant person to talk to. She and my husband were making each another laugh. It was an older building, but that didn't bother me.

I have chosen Autumn View Gardens for my mother. It is more like home. The people are very caring, and it's more like family living. My mother is in assisted living there. The staff members are wonderful. The rooms are very large. My mother got a deluxe studio, and it is adequate. The patio was the selling point. The staff is very warm. I tried the food when I toured it a year ago, and my mother says the food is fantastic. It's very expensive though. Normally, they have activities but during this Covid, it's shut down. They just got their immunization shots yesterday. The marketing assistant, Drea, is just so caring, so nice, and so comfortable to talk to. I just think that is a big selling point, too. They have a library. It's a very nice and very welcoming place.

My father-in-law was in Brookdale Creve Coeur. He was there for almost a year. They have some assisted living but it's on the light side. As far as activities, there's a pool there but it was closed. There's an exercise facility but it was of limited use. They have a hair salon, and there are plenty of facilities. Brookdale Creve Coeur was a large place with a nice little walkway. However, they were restricted in what they could do. They typically had planned outings that they stopped because they didn't want the residents to be out. My father-in-law had a nice room. It was a studio-plus, but it was large. The staff was very nice and very accommodating. We weren't allowed in; the Covid protocol was good. It was a little on the pricey side.

We've found a place for my dad, the Solstice Senior Living at Fenton. He's not on the waiting list anymore. We have the lease agreement, but we haven't moved him in yet. One of the things I like about it is that they have a bus that has a lift on it. It's available so that he can do zip right on his electric wheelchair and go to appointments on his own and not have to get in and out of his chair and then out of the car. So that was one good thing, and they were really nice. It's a nice and clean place. The staff was very nice and friendly. I know they played cards and they watched movies, though maybe because of the pandemic they're probably not doing a lot of those and being very careful. I know there's restaurant-type eating. They have a library, exercise room, and a spa. It's very homey.

My mom was a resident of StoneBridge Senior Living. I thought her care was adequate. I think she got excellent care from some people, and adequate care from others. There was one thing that occurred during the COVID that I was very disappointed with. When the shelter-in-place first began, the manager of the facility decided none of the therapists could come in, so my mom's therapy was immediately stopped. When the therapy stopped, the Medicare also stopped, which in her case was not a big issue, but for many people it would be. Her therapy was delayed for seven additional weeks. They replaced the manager, and the new manager said, "Sure, let the therapists come in," but no one informed me. I think they're trying to make things safe, they made things difficult for the residents and their family, but I felt like the decisions they made was for their best interest. The room was fine, the bathrooms were fine, but I never came into her room or building even, and detected persistent bad odors. I felt that they kept it clean, which I really appreciated. She appreciated the employees that were gentle and respectful. Some just kind of do the task they had to do. I felt the activities director did an excellent job. Even during COVID they made an attempt to give the residents some time, they let them come to the doorway, and I think they even had hallway bingo.

I went to NHC Healthcare Maryland Heights. I remember feeling the decor was not as fresh, like it needed to be painted, and the furniture needed to be updated a little bit. I would have felt fine with mine going there. The staff was fine, friendly, and helpful. They have one dining room, it looked fine, it was lunchtime when we went through, and that area looked a little more updated. The food smelled OK, and I felt comfortable in the dining area. I had a friend recommend that one. Her husband had been there.
