I took the time to write this because I was grieving and maybe I just wanted to place blame. So i sat with writing this review. But I truly believe the blame lies with them and I will try to keep emotion out of my review. My mother passed away after being in this facility for 3 weeks. She does have underlying conditions, obviously, that were managed very well for 2.5 years while she lived with my brother. But my brother had a tragedy happen so he needed to find a place for her that would give her the attention she received with him. I do believe this facility led to my mothers death. She was taken to the emergency room 3 times in the 3 weeks she was there. The last visit she never went back. She went straight to hospice were she lasted 2 days and we said good bye to her. When she went to the er this last time her sugar was 1400. She is diabetic and it is sometimes unregulated but 1400!!! The memory care wing where she was has 25 residents to 2 cna's. So the patients that need the most care get the least help. The wing smells like urine constantly. They lost her clothes, her comforter, a blanket she had to replace the comforter, they lost her teeth!! They will tell you that they do memory care activities with the residents but they do not. They do nothing but leave them in chairs or beds all day. This place needs to do better. They need to be held accountable and to make changes for future patients. Untill that happens please do NOT send your loved one here. They do not care. And as far as that goes when we went to pick up my mom's stuff the administrator had a smug awful look on her face when she spoke to us that just made me sick. She didn't even offer condolenscences.

The food here is terrible! My dad asks me to bring him dinner because he can\'t eat what they serve, nor does he get what he ordered. Air conditioning units in the rooms are loud and make it hard to sleep. They promised us that the room would be cleaned before he moved in, but a minimal amount was done. They could have at least cleaned the carpet.

A lot has changed at Laurelwood since my mom has lived there. The interior is a little dated but in very good condition. The manager team has remained the same now for a couple of years and the food has finally gotten to be \'great\' according to my mom. She is always telling me how much fun she has at activities and looks forward to ice cream sundaes on Thursdays. We are pleased with the care that she gets and have had good correspondence with the Director of Nursing.

My mother-in-law is at Wood Glen Alzheimer's Community, and so far, it is fine. She is not liking it, but she has some confusion issues, so we are just trying to figure out what the long-term plan is going to be. Because of COVID we can't go in and visit her, so I have not met any of them. It is just phone calls. But in the phone conversations, the staff has been fine. She is in quarantine right now, and it sounds like in a few days she will be able to come out of quarantine and move to another room, and she is excited about that. She seems to think that will make her happier. She seems satisfied with the food for the most part. She seems to be comfortable with her room. For rehab they are able to provide her with physical and occupational therapy and some cognitive rehab, and those are the main things we were looking for at this point.

We visited The Montclair for my mom. It was really nice, but it was more expensive than what we're looking for an independent living place. The apartments were very large, very open, and well-lit. They were beautiful. The staff was very friendly. It was one that I just kind of dismissed because of the cost, but it seemed extremely clean, and well maintained. The staff were nothing but friendly and helpful.

My mother is currently at The Cambridge in Springfield and everything is working out really well. So far, she is pleased. I like her apartment, it's all she needs. Her last one was bigger than that, but I really think this one's cozy. She's got a very small kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. There's a linen closet, a coat closet, and big closet in her bedroom. The staff is very, very friendly. My mom can't do anything, but they have an exercise room and they play games out in the front.

My mom and my dad were able to stay at The Montclair in Springfield and I did not care for it. The staff wasn't very friendly and everyone was griping about the food. They had gone through three chefs within a month and they were out of cleaning people. I think my mom only got her place cleaned two times when she was there. The maintenance guys were quitting. I don't know what was going on there. Her apartment was bigger than her current facility. It had a bigger kitchen, bigger living room and bigger bathroom. It was pretty upscale compared to what she has now. My dad moved into it too. That was fine, but for her she didn't need one that big. She hardly ever ate the food there. They had activities, but my mom didn't go to any. They had areas outside to sit. Overall it was OK, but their trash room was never clean.

I toured The Waterford at Ironbridge. It was very, very nice, and the person who gave me the tour was very nice, but they don't have any patio or balcony units. They have a library, no swimming pool, but lots of activities, everything like that. The staff members were all very good.

We thought Brookdale Oakwood was nice. It seemed like a pleasant community, and the one room we saw seemed like a nice size. The staff was friendly. They said they had activities, but I didn't notice any going on. The dining area had tablecloths, and it looked very nice and homey. They had a soda fountain just off of the dining room. The folks that were sitting around seemed happy.
