The tour at Brookdale Geary Street was wonderful, and I loved it. The room size is good, it's a lot bigger than I thought they're going to be, they're like small apartments, they have kitchenettes, and it just depends on the size you choose, which was a studio for my dad. He has a little kitchenette, but he doesn't cook. They have quite a lot of stuff going on all the time, they have bingo, they had a superbowl party with snacks and had 2 rooms of big screen TV. They have music regularly, they have people that come in and play the piano for awhile, and it's beautiful and fun. They have a theater room with a big screen TV and lots of DVDs, they have a workout room with an exercise machine, they have a garden room with a kitchen in it and table, and people can have parties there if the family wants to have a party with them. They have a man cave with pool tables, they've got a little salon area, and they've got a beautiful dining room. It's really nice.

My wife is using Right at Home Cedar Rapids and it's been very good. The attitude of the staff is OK. They come in and ask what she wants, they ask if she will take a shower, and they help with some housekeeping, which involves changing and washing the linens. The agency keeps in contact with me and they keep a log to keep me informed of how things are going.

Garnett Place seemed cozy. The girl who showed us around was very nice. The apartment configurations would work. It's one we would put on our short list to consider. They had jigsaw puzzles.

My father was at Corridor Crossing Place for two weeks and three days. We were very happy with them but he requires more care than what they're able to provide now. The people were very friendly and helpful. There was a little bit of staff changing that caused a little bit of confusion as to who to talk to, but the manager was very helpful and tried to take care of things on a timely basis. They have activities held mid-morning and mid-afternoon that vary anywhere from playing games, doing puzzles, watching a movie, creating pictures and cards, so they were quite good with the variety of activities they were providing. There are a few things that they needed to improve on but they were working on them. The staff was excellent, and my father seemed to like the food.

My husband is in Corridor Crossing Place and we're very pleased with all the personal attention. They're in the process of remodeling, so we got in at a good time and got a good deal. They're very attentive and they have three meals a day in the dining room. There are also activities like music hours on Sundays, exercises, movies, they have cards games, bingo, and so on. The layout is good, there's just remodeling going on.

I toured Mayvil, and it seemed just fine. It was laid out like a square with wings, and it seemed like a good facility. There were private rooms with bathrooms and it was what I expected. The staff member was very nice, very informative, and very interested in helping with what we needed or thought we might need. The dining area looked fine, and it looked like they had a variety of food to eat.

Mayvil was very clean and updated. They interacted with Alzheimer patients and didn't just let them sit there on their own. We really liked it and didn't bother going to see another senior community. We saw a couple of rooms that were a really nice and just the right size. The staff was really nice. I was very impressed.
