Founded in 1847, Milwaukie is a quiet suburban city with a population of 20,000 that has a rich history. The city is just miles away from downtown Portland, giving Milwaukie assisted living residents the best of all worlds: a small town feel with easy access to a bustling downtown metropolis.
Milwaukiens, as they’re called, are generally active community members and engage as board members, volunteer members, or participants in one of the many annual festivals. The area is bordered by the Willamette River, which moderates the temperature year-round and provides some beautiful scenery. Currently, Milwaukie’s downtown area is being redeveloped to make room for new apartments and retail stores, as well as a new riverfront park.
