Village at the Falls was a very dated looking building. It was rundown-ish looking. The staff said the carpeting was being replaced the following week. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but it didn't look good when we were there. They had a very small room for fitness, no equipment in it, just a small room where they would gather. She said they were moving some exercise equipment in there the following week, but I don't know if they will. The activity room was completely shut dark, so I don't know what was going on in there. The tour agent was OK, but kinda too fake and bubbly, too gushy, and mushy, and kind of lovey-dovey. I didn't have a real good vibe. She was nice, it's just that I'm not a little kid. The unit itself was nice. It had a very, very large south exposure, and a full kitchen, but it was dated, and when we walked in there were a lot of 80 to 90-year-old people in wheelchairs just kind of vegetating around. My sister is only 60, and she doesn't fall in a nursing home. Even though this was independent living, it had a very nursing home-ish feeling, and I can't put my sister in something like that. She needs something more upbeat, younger people that do activities, and I just couldn't see that happening at that place. There was a courtyard, but there was nothing out there at this time of the year. I did not see a library or a hairdresser. They might have it, but I didn't see it. They had some extra storage lockers, which other places didn't have. They had a lady that would take you to the grocery store. It was just a very kinda dirty, kinda dated looking place. It's something I don't think would be a good fit at all.

Mission Creek was a little bigger than the other place. They were prepared when I got there. The person who normally gives the tours was there, and they had information for me. We walked around and she showed me the place. It was dinner time so no activities were going on, but they did have an activity space. It was newer, a little bigger, well lit, and they had more studios. They take residents shopping, to the pharmacy, and other places.

We chose Village at the Falls and my dad likes it. There are lots of activities and lots of people there. There are actually a lot of residents there that are out doing things and there are activities available. They provide all three meals, and people come in to do cleaning so his room is really nice. He's really happy there. Based on everything I've seen so far, the staff members are very good workers and do everything. Like if they're in the cafeteria they do the cleaning, and they're pretty nice. The only thing I can think of that needs to improve right now is the food since the food is not that great.

Heritage at Deer Creek is really nice and clean. It didn't smell and everything looked sparkling and new. The staff is really good. The rooms were big and they had kitchenettes. They offer extra services if you need them. It's a continuum of care until end of life which was great. They had lots of areas to sit which was really nice if you needed it so you don't have to sit all in one room which was really cool. They had several little libraries, fireplaces everywhere and a sun room.

Village at the Falls was very nice and looks like it had everything that I wanted, but it's a little too expensive for me. The person who toured us was very friendly, outgoing, gave us all the information we wanted, and was very open to answering questions. We had lunch there and the food was very good. They have posters that describe some of the activities that were coming up.

ProHealth Care Regency was way too big. We went there because it was a non-profit. They're building two additional buildings and I don't see how they're going to keep up with it staff wise. I don't feel like there would be a proper ratio of care staff to the residents. The dining area was nice. The rooms were a little smaller, but they have vast amounts of storage space. They have crafts and regular trips. They really want you to use their house practical nurses and their primary care physicians. They have the ProHealth Clinic right there, so if you're not going to use them, you have to be going out to your doctors on your own. The location was convenient.

The rooms at Village at the Falls were good-sized. There was a variety, and some were on the lower level. There was a nice garden in the back and the lunchroom looked nice. I was given a ticket to come back and have lunch with somebody. The staff was very informative, explained things, and answered all my questions. There were some people in the library. There was brand-new carpeting in the several rooms that I saw. It almost looked like a hotel.

My mother-in-law has been living in Mission Creek. She was originally in assisted living, but we moved her to the memory care unit, and she’s doing marvelous there. They’re all very nice, they’re good to her, and she jokes with them all the time. The rooms are very large, and her room looks out onto the courtyard. They have bird-feeders, flower boxes, she has a twin-bed, a dresser, recliner, a TV, a little table and chairs, and a couple of sitting chairs. She gets her money’s worth.

While other senior places are a little more high-tech, Village at the Falls is kind of older, and has a homier look to it. But the people are really nice there and I like that it's a small community. There's a church across the street, and the young kids come over to volunteer and sing Christmas carols, and they would have church there. The rooms were nice, but the last tenant just moved out of the room they showed me, so it was kind of dirty-looking. I like the warm community feeling. Another thing I also really like is that they set out donuts, cookies, coffee, and stuff every day 24-hours a day. So whenever residents want coffee they can just come down and have it. The person who gave me the tour was very nice, thorough, and was a really nice guy. He made me feel comfortable during the whole tour and explained things so well.
