We chose Atria Summit Ridge because it is close to family. The place is very airy, clean, and there's a good vibe to the place. The staff was knowledgeable and very pleasant to talk to. My parents got a studio for 2 people; it's very clean and new-looking. There's outside gardening, movie theater, games, and activities, salon and they had a courtyard. I've only had meetings with one person but she was very good.

I love this place! Everyone there is so kind! And the building is beautiful! They just redid quite a bit of the building and I’m loving it!

My friend was at Atria Summit Ridge. Their housekeeping and pill management were a little lackadaisical. He had an incident where he ended up in the hospital and when he got out of the hospital, Atria said that he would need extra medical care, so they charged him an extra $300 to $900. According to my friend, they didn't let him know that they were charging him more. He got upset and just left the facility. His apartment wasn't kept as clean as where he is currently. They had people who would play music, and they had movies. They did a great job with the activities. He was in independent living with medicine management. They didn't have an exercise room or an exercise area. All they had available was for the residents to walk around the hallways.

Cascades of the Sierra was excellent except for the cost. They were really expensive, but it's a good value because they had wonderful homes, a gym, food, and staff. My friend's apartment was nice. It was a one-bedroom plus a huge living room, a nice big bathroom, a big closet, a lot of storage space, a fridge, a microwave, a nice sink, and a nice view. They had a lot going on, a gym, two different cafeterias, seating areas, art rooms, they watch movies daily, there's bingo, and games. It's awesome. It's the type of place that I would like to be at. It's independent living with a 24-hour staff.

My mom is at MorningStar Senior Living of Sparks in their assisted living wing. They have independent living, assisted living, and memory care. It is a really nice community. I like the looks of it. It is comfortable for my mom. The staff members are very nice. Things have been going well with my mom there. She is liking it, too. My mom doesn't participate in many of their activites. She is just more social with the people that are there and with the staff too. They will take you places, and there are different activities to do at different times of the week within the house. My mom has a small apartment. You walk into a small kitchenette with a refrigerator, a microwave, a kitchen sink, and a few cabinets. There's a small living room and then you go through a door into a bedroom with a large bathroom. The bathroom has handicapped access, and it has a shower stall. I like this apartment better than a lot of other places that are just studios. It is larger and it has more of a homey feel. They have a wonderful staff, too. It couldn't be better.

I liked Atria Summit Ridge, but the room was just a studio apartment. Nevertheless, I got a very good impression of the place. Some very nice people showed me around. It was very clean and organized. The staff members were very polite and nice. I just didn't like the studio apartment with the bed and the living room all in one room.

Sky Peaks was really nice. The tour guide was new so he didn't know everything about the place. It was clean, but seemed older, and the outside seemed older than the inside. When we got there we didn't really see many people around. The room we saw there wasn't as nice as the ones in the other community we, but it was adequate. When we set up the tour we were supposed to eat there, but the staff at Sky Peaks didn't know that. We ended up eating there, but we did not like the food. They had three items on their lunch menu and nothing was seasoned. We had a meatloaf sandwich that was just white bread and meatloaf; no condiments whatsoever. The other meal was fettuccine alfredo that looked like it wasn't seasoned at all. When I observed the people there, no one was talking to each other, and they didn't look happy.

Brookdale Vista is very clean, warm and inviting. The staff is very helpful, they walk you through the onboarding process really well. They're very empathetic and really look at the residents as patients instead of just revenue. They have an activities board for the month with activities that the folks do, like doing a little workout on their wheelchairs. They also do trivia to keep their minds active and they go out on field trips. My mom really likes the food, it's surprisingly good.

MorningStar of Sparks seems to be more corporate and more modern compared to the community where my mom is currently in. It's like a hotel as opposed to something that's more homey. Their staff is good. The person who assisted me was a bit too young to be in the position, since the clients are elderly. She also seemed more corporate and more of a sales person. They had quite a few amenities, the building has 3 stories so there's a lot going on. They have a place to watch movies, a game room, and they have a happy hour. But since it's 3 stories, it's harder for people to go around and they have to use the elevator.
