My brother is now in Stratford Manor. He had to go into quarantine for 14 days even though he did not have the virus. I came to visit him this past Friday. They only will allow you a 15-minute visit due to the fact that they have other visitors and because of the way the visiting is set up; it's one-on-one and you are outside the whole time. There is only one visitor at a time for each family. The only thing is the visit should be at least for 20 minutes to a half hour; 15 minutes to me sounds almost like a penal institution. The upkeep and cleanliness of the place is very good. Also my brother is clean, and the staff is professional. My brother was very disoriented when he went into the hospital. After about two weeks the social worker suggested that he needed to be someplace where he could get rehabilitation because his walking was totally off. The thing I didn't appreciate on behalf of the hospital, and also on behalf of Stratford Manor, is that they should have told me right then and there that he needed clothing. He had been there in quarantine for 14 days, and no one really reached out to me to say he needed clothing. I found that to be a lack of communication between the hospital and Stratford Manor. There shouldn't have been an oversight like that.

Brookdale West Orange was pleasant, but they need to level up a little bit and update the outside and the inside. They have a lot of activities, and they seem to care about their clients. They have field trips and things of that nature, and they have a hair salon. The rooms were standard and seemed pretty clean. The lady who gave me the tour was excellent.

My mother is in Brighton Gardens of West Orange. It's been a wonderful experience for her. She's thriving there, so we're very happy with the care. It's clean, the people are kind, and the care is outstanding. They hire very qualified, compassionate people who are looking out for the best of the people who live there. They have a diet that's really good for people who might be having different health issues that they need to deal with. It's like hospital food, but it's healthy, and it's good. She's stronger and more mentally alert because she's on a very good diet. The food is good for people who need that kind of well-balanced diet. The activities are organized and structured. They do celebrations and events for the holidays. They keep them active. They do exercises every morning, play bingo, and bocce. It's reasonably priced compared to other places. If there are any concerns, they deal with it immediately, and directly. She had heard unsolicited from other residents that this was a really good place.

Brookdale West Orange specializes in dementia care. The staff is very compassionate and collaborate with the family. The price is lower than some other assisted living which I felt did not care for their residents in this compassionate, collaborative fashion. The service is all excellent. Every time that there's something that comes up with my mother, whether it's positive or negative, they contact me and go over idea with me before they act.

The atmosphere at Brookdale West Orange was very positive. The staff seemed very caring and the residents seemed very happy. They had a very good amount of activities and things for the people to do. They showed me different rooms with people doing things and entertainment was very strong. It's an older facility. I wasn't crazy about the location and it's very expensive.
