My brother stayed at Brookdale Durham. It's a beautiful building with a beautiful and very comfortable entrance. The only thing that I could complain about would be the cleaning staff, which was very limited for the amount of people in that building. There should have been more cleaning staff, and I think they only got the rooms cleaned once a week, which was not good for me because older people make messes. The staff was very hospitable and approachable. I had no complaints with the staff. They had great activities, musicians coming in, pianists playing, beautiful music, and they loved bingo and puzzles. It was a well planned out facility. They had ample food there, great meals, and nice menus.

I drove up from Wilmington on Monday morning Nov. 2 to visit a friend. Due to Covid, we had to meet outside and it was cold. He was clean, happy and dressed warmly. The lady who assisted us was friendly, helpful, patient, and professional, even though we were a little late. Before Covid, I would visit him several times per year. I always had a good impression of the quality of his care and the general attitude of the caregivers that I met. Although no place is perfect, I think you do a good job considering the challenges you are faced with daily. Thank you for taking good care of my friend. (Some of the categories above, I have no direct knowledge of.)

Durham Regent was good. The staff was marvelous. The rooms were good, not spacious, but adequate. They have a lot of activities and a library. The food was very good.

We liked Durham Regent a lot, but the price is just not where we want it to be. The place was fantastic. The staff was wonderful and friendly. Aaron was wonderful; I liked her a lot, and she caught on quick on how it works with my sister and I. We toured there a long time, so she had things to do and she kept coming back to check in on us. The rooms at first kind of threw me off, but then it makes sense. I would have liked the fridge to be bigger. She showed us some rooms that were V-shaped. I didn't care for the one-bedroom apartment, even though it had a door. It seemed smaller but costs more. The lunch was great, and I like the fact that everybody was coming together, friendly, and talking to each other. The food was wonderful, and we didn't know that we could ask for something. I really like the gaming area with the puzzle tables setup. If you're walking past, you can add a piece and not really have to focus on just that one thing. Other people were playing cards and board games. It's like a library with other things to do, and you're not forced to do anything. I felt good about it because it's an assisted community to a point, so your independence won't be taken away from you. Another thing I thought that's fantastic is the housekeeping. Once a week someone would come in and clean and bring your paper products for you. It was nice. I like that they'll take you places you need to go, and it's included in the price. We've looked at other places, and everything is extra. So the fact that this community has their own equipment to take you to the store, or to the bank and something like that, is a plus. The place didn't have a smell; it was very clean and very inviting. Everybody was wonderful, but a whole lot of praise goes to Aaron.

My experience at Brookdale Durham was good. They have a craft room, TV, movies, and they socially get together. They were in the middle of having their carpets steam-cleaned, so it was kind of a mess that day.
