We chose The Gardens at Wakefield Plantation because they had a very reasonable rate for a two-bedroom apartment. It has a feature that would not make her rent go up. After the initial, you pay one month one time, and from then the rent is locked in at a monthly rent. Economically, it was great. They offered three meals a day, housekeeping, and my mom has a full washer and dryer and a full kitchen. She has access to transportation for shopping or medical appointment several days a week. They have a whole calendar of activities from Bible classes, exercise, walking clubs, and cards. They bring in people, like this weekend they have Irish dancers for Saint Patrick's Day. The activities were comparable to other places we've looked at. They have a beauty parlor with a hairdresser on-site three to four days a week. Just a few days in, and we're really happy with the community. The staff has been friendly and helpful, and my mother seems to be making friends at dinner time and things like that.

The Gardens at Wakefield Plantation was wonderful, very nice, very clean, and had a very friendly atmosphere. The person during the tour was very helpful. There's a lot of information, and I thought she did a very good job to answer the general questions and then explain why their location had better offerings than other locations. We viewed two different units within the facility that were in very nice shape. I really liked the facility. From everything I read online and from speaking with personnel there, it seemed like a place that we should go and tour. I was very happy with it. They had so much to offer. When I compared what was available at the other location, this place came out at the top. I didn't sample the food, but it seemed like everyone who was in the cafeteria at the time was enjoying it. They had multiple offerings. It looked like it would be a very good facility.

The staff at The Gardens was wonderful, and the place was beautiful. The food was wonderful. Their dining room was open and airy. They didn’t have anything going on, but they do have a lot of activities. I would highly recommend this place.

Our stay has been very good in The Gardens at Wakefield. It has good food and nice apartments. When we moved in, everybody from management to the other clients were all very friendly and helpful. It was just a very nice, welcoming experience. They even helped us put the furniture in. The apartment is clean, a good size, and very well appointed with a washer and dryer, a full kitchen, a balcony, and a large bathroom. The location is excellent near a lot of shopping and lots of restaurants. It has good parking and nice gardens. The food is excellent with three meals a day, and the dining staff is very accommodating. There are lots of activities going on during the day and on the weekends. You can find just about anything you want to do. I recommend them.

The Gardens at Wakefield was probably a notch up from the other place we toured. I really didn't meet any staff other than the administrator, and she was very good. The apartment sizes were fine. The courtyard and the dining area were really nice. I don't remember enough about the activities, but I'm sure there were plenty. I didn't interact with any resident. I don't recall outside of a gathering area, which looked like a library. I didn't pay that much attention to the amenities. I was more interested in the apartment. I saw a one-bedroom, and it was very clean. It just seemed like a really nice place for people to investigate if they're going into independent living. The facility appeared to be well maintained.

The Gardens at Wakefield Plantation was very nice, but it didn't fit my needs. I'm in a wheelchair, and their bus doesn't have the capability for wheelchairs. They also didn't have anybody on duty at night in case somebody falls. Otherwise, it was a very attractive community. The apartments were very nice except I have to be able to move around in the bathroom with a wheelchair. They have those, but it was not to my liking. If I didn't have a wheelchair, it would be very satisfactory. The manager who showed me around was very nice.
