Mom was treated well. The workers that actually care for patients were great. Getting any refund of money due to the account/former patient is awful and bureaucratic. this rating is strictly based on finances.

Our Dad is 89 years old and tells us daily how much he enjoys living here. He was in the military and appreciates order and cleanliness. You’ll find that here, no odors and neat as a pin! We like that he has so many choices for meals! The food is good and plentiful. You won’t find new shiny marble floors, but shiny floors never took care of anybody and our Dad gets exceptional care. The process was good with the tour and our time with Tina. Nobody is kinder and she too loves the residents!

We have chosen The Wellington at North Bend Crossing, and mom will be moving there on Monday. We're impressed by it; the apartment is very spacious. All the activity areas, the dining areas are well decorated and very spacious, really modern, nice looking, and very clean. The staff are exceptional; it seemed to be well suited for her needs, and it's perfect for her.

We went to Northgate Park. It was very nice; I was very impressed by it. But we felt that my mom was beyond the care that she would get there. It seemed to be more of a retirement community than somebody that would meet the needs that my mom has. We weren't allowed inside because of covid, so she just took us around the outside, and she took us into one of the rooms, which was very nice, everything was all well-kept, and it looked like it's brand new, very clean, and I'm very impressed with it.

The Seasons is excellent. The move-in committee was great and responsive. We have a beautiful apartment that's on the ground floor, which we're happy we chose because our relatives can look through the window and wave at my mother. She has a one-bedroom apartment, but there's a variety. They have a beauty salon. She's in a wheelchair and the activities committee could do a better job of involving all residents, especially those who are not mobile.

My mother is at Northgate Park. The care is fine and her room is very nice and clean. They have several activities and they offer to come get her, but she doesn't choose to participate. She has everything in her room. The staff treats her well. She's OK with the food, and they come get her for all three meals. This facility has the best price point. It goes up based on what you need. They have a lot of different rooms, a living room, and a kitchenette area large enough if you want to have a birthday party in it, and it has sinks and refrigerators. They have a room where they can watch a movie, they have a physical therapy room or an exercise room, a beauty salon, and a very large and very nice dining room which you see almost right away when you walk in. They keep it very clean. It felt very warm, and it had a comfort level there that made me feel like I found the right place.

Evergreen Retirement Community was nice but they did not have facilities like a full nursing home. Also it was much further from my house; I wanted something closer that I could run over and visit. They showed me the assisted living and memory care area. The apartments were large and nice. They also showed me the main room, which was nice. The dining area was spacious and nice. They had activities for the residents. Overall, it was very nice but it was too far from our house.

My husband and I have chosen Evergreen (Evergreen Retirement Community). We liked the fact that they provided some meals. We also liked that they clean the place once a week. They provide transportation to doctors. They have a swimming pool, pool room, tennis court, movie night, and places to play games. The staff provides excellent service. Our room is a two-bed, two-bath, with a washer and dryer, and a kitchen. The place just needs to be updated. We had lunch there and it was good.

Over a year ago, my mother was going in the right direction as much as she could given her condition. With the overall change in management, I feel they failed her. And not because family wasn\'t present. Someone was there at least 5 out of 7 days. The aides for the most part were good to her. The highest paid nurses in the building are 100% horrible. If your loved one can\'t speak for themselves, this is not the place for them.

Financial Assistance for Assisted Living in Cincinnati

Medicaid in Ohio

The Ohio Medicaid program is available to residents of all ages who meet certain income thresholds. Ohio Medicaid is set up as a group of managed care programs serving specific demographic groups such as infants, children, families, the elderly and the disabled. These managed care programs offer preventive health care, medical professional services, hospital and outpatient services, prescriptions, transportation and medical equipment. To qualify, adults must:

Be a U.S. citizen, legal alien or permanent resident
Be an Ohio resident
Have an annual household income under $16,146 for an individual or $21,892 for a couple
Help for seniors in assisted living facilities is covered under the Ohio Medicaid Home and Community-Based/Long-Term Care waiver, detailed below. To apply for Medicaid, visit Ohio Benefits online or call the Medicaid Consumer Hotline at (800) 324-8680. Assisted Living Waiver The Assisted Living waiver is a Medicaid program that covers specific services in participating assisted living facilities, including housekeeping, skilled nursing and daily living activities such as bathing and medication administration. The waiver is available to seniors who need a nursing level of care but wish to remain in an assisted living facility. To be eligible, applicants must:
Have a monthly income of no more than $2,313 for an individual ($4,626 for couples)
Have no more than $2,000 in assets for an individual or $3,000 per couple (a primary home and a vehicle are exempt from this requirement)
This program is not an entitlement, and not all assisted living facilities accept the waiver, so there may be a waiting list for available spots. Participants are responsible for paying room and board; the waiver only covers the cost of support services.
